Mike Miller moved to Florida in 1960 from Michigan's Upper Peninsula. After a hitch in the U.S. Navy, he graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Civil Engineering. His career as a consulting engineer included management roles on many Florida projects, including Walt Disney World, Epcot and Universal Studios. He also worked on hundreds of developments, producing not only the engineering plans and specifications, but the sales and advertising copy as well.
Most of his writing experience during the consulting years was technical in nature. He wrote hundreds of proposals, specifications and reports. Those years also saw him produce two books: Developing Single Family Subdivisions and What Would Walt Do? The latter book is about his experiences during the construction of Walt Disney World in Orlando. He also created and published monthly newsletters for several of the firms he worked with over the years.
In recent years, Miller has created several websites on various subjects. His work included writing all of the content on the websites, as well as the technical aspects of creating and maintaining the sites. His most successful and largest website, FloridaBackroadsTravel.com, focuses on the lesser known and more laid back places in Florida.
He has written and published 18 books, all available at Amazon.com. The Florida Backroads Travelseries includes 16 separate books that are based on his website. All 18 books are available for preview or purchase at Mike Miller's Amazon Page by clicking the cover below. He has also had articles published in various print magazines, blogs and websites.
